META: When you are on a camping trip, there are some basic essentials that you need to carry with you so that you can have an equally enjoyable time away from home. Prepare a list of the items you cannot do without because you will not be able to carry everything. Therefore, amongst many other things, lightweight tents for camping should be considered.
As exciting as it may be, you cannot enjoy a camping trip if you are not geared up with the right kind of camping equipment. To arrive with all your basic necessities it is essential that you work out a list of things that you are going to need while you are out e.g. tents, cooking equipment and clothes.Plan well before your trip as this will ensure you have all the appropriate equipment. To ensure you have all the apporpriate equipment for your trip you need to be checking your list at least a few weeks before you plan to go. Unless you have a proper planning, you are bound to forget something or the other and you surely would not want to discover that you have left behind something very important.
The first and foremost thing is to get yourself a tent. Look for one that best suits your needs while at the same time make sure it is suitable for the weather conditions of the place you are planning to visit. Sleeping bags come in all different shapes, sizes, fabrics and colours. This is the next important thing on the list, so ensure you get one which is comfortable. You could include a sleeping mat for added comfort for instance an inflated mat that will also give you better insulation.
Your list of foodstuff that you intend to carry depends on how many people are going to eat that food. It would be advisable to avoid taking perishable food because of the difficulty of storing it. As for the cooking and eating utensils you could carry a frying pan, two or three pots, a cooking spoon, spatula while plastic plates, spoons and cups would do beautifully for your meals. You should carry spare containers with you just in case you have any left over food; this can be stored and used for your next meal.
A camp stove can be very handy, if bad weather forbids you to light up a campfire. You will be surprised as to what and how much you can do with a camp stove. Fresh meals can be cooked if you can be bothered to take time out to cook them.
Flashlights, matches and lighters can be of great use if you have to fend for something in the dark. When you are camping you should also take a first-aid kit, this can be very handy at times. Please see below some of the items included in the kit; insect repellent, aspirin, strips of band-aid, cotton balls, antiseptic ointment, gauze, sunscreen, an antibiotic, aspirin, a burn spray.
Taking the right clothes for your trip is very important; ensure they are lightweight and easy to carry but also are suitable for the weather conditions that you are likely to face. Do not take clothes that tend to remain damp or do not dry fast. Lightweight rain gear could be added to your list if you wish as it may come in useful if it rains. Take the right kind of footwear, a pair of sneakers would be perfect but if you are planning a hike on rough terrain it would be suitable to have a pair of sturdy boots.
Apart from these you will need a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from the harsh sun. Other things you might like to consider are a small all-purpose knife, a small hatchet, a book or two and a deck of cards. Other pastime articles can be included if you can carry them.
One thing you must remember is that whatever you take with you, must be lightweight specifically if you are going backpacking because you would not want to come back with a bad back. You will be ready for your camping trip once you have gathered all the essential stuff and checked out it’s weight. Carry it about for a few minutes to see how you feel.
