For anyone thinking of finally putting down the cash to get a quality spotting scope, there are several things in the scope that need to be offered. Not only should it provide maximum magnification for the price paid but it also should be waterproof and have a nice, wide objective lens so that it can work well in low-light conditions.

Keep in mind that scopes are rated partially on the basis of their magnification ability as well as how wide their field of view is. Make sure to decide which attributes are most important (it should at least be water and shock-proof) and then buy the scope that the budget can afford.
